Eileen & Eddie wanted a wedding with a casual feel, with their family and friends gathering for a great party. Eileen’s Leona gown “was romantic and soft which fit our barn venue, but still showed my curves”.
Of her Leona gown, Eileen said, “Leona! I LOVED her from the moment I put her on. I never thought I would wear lace, but she changed my mind. I told my consultant I wanted to look like a sophisticated princess, which I admittedly knew was very vague. The bold pattern of the lace added impact and a wow factor I needed – I was looking for a touch of drama!“

Tell Us Your Love Story
How did you meet?
We actually grew up in the same hometown on the south shore of Long Island, NY, & went to middle school together. We never spoke after that and reconnected 17 years later through the power of social media (Thanks, Tinder!) Eddie was super classy though and messaged me on Facebook as a way to make first contact!
How did he put a ring on it?
Eddie proposed in one of our favorite local spots in Astoria, Queens – Astoria Park on the East River.
Where did you draw inspiration from?
More than anything else, Eddie and I wanted a wedding with a casual feel, just our family and friends gathering for a great party. We fell in love with the venue in Lake George and that directed most of our aesthetic choices. Burlap & Beams already has so much character and ambiance, we didn’t need to do much, just choose flowers and add some personal touches.
What made the wedding personal to you?
We felt it was very authentic to us. We had a short, non-religious ceremony with an amazing officiant. We had seen her marry a friend of ours and knew we would hire her immediately – she spoke honestly about the challenges of marriage, but was still so romantic and acknowledged the significance of the day.
After the ceremony, the venue allowed our guests to enjoy different parts of the property – there was a fire pit, corn hole, two barns, a patio, a dinner tent, a small brook guests could walk down to, and the lovely property itself and backdrop of the mountains. We liked the versatility and flexibility of the property so no one felt kept in one space for the length of the event. It was the type of wedding Eddie and I would have liked to attend as guests!
What were you most nervous or excited about?
Rain! It almost rained right before the ceremony and because our alternative was a very cramped space, I wanted my guests to me comfortable and exchange our vows with the backdrop of the beautiful Adirondacks. We got VERY lucky, and the rain missed us by about a mile!
Now, the most important part – the Dress!
Tell us about your dress?
Leona! I LOVED her from the moment I put her on. I never thought I would wear lace, but she changed my mind. I told my consultant I wanted to look like a sophisticated princess, which I admittedly knew was very vague. Leona is romantic and soft which fit our barn venue, but still showed my curves. The bold pattern of the lace added impact and a wow factor I needed – I was looking for a touch of drama!
What stockist did you get it from?
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
The few moments Eddie and I had alone right after the ceremony – we were so relieved and excited to finally be married. We also had an amazing time on the dance floor with our family and friends thanks to our awesome DJ! Also, it was HOT – very humid, so we were pretty much sweating the entire night – the best part was that we didn’t care – we were just enjoying the moment!
