Tell Us Your Love Story
How did you meet?
We were best friends for years, starting in high school. We met in 9th grade when we both played for the tennis team. We would carpool home from practice together listening to Blink 182 and stopping for ice cream. We went to different colleges, but realized we were right for each other when we were home for the summer. Nine years (7 of them long distance) later, we finally tied the knot back home where we first met.
How did he put a ring on it?
We both share a love of the water. He first asked me out on the beach at Lake Michigan, he proposed back in the same spot, this time with our dog 🙂

Where did you draw inspiration from?
I am always drawn towards natural, earthy tones, and I love the boho / romantic style. We knew water was going to be a backdrop, so we wanted our tones to pop against it.
What made the wedding personal to you?
We got married in our home town, with just our closest friends and immediate family. The reception was in my parent’s backyard, where Greg and I have spent so much time together. Everyone involved with the wedding was extremely important to us – our officiant was one of our mutual best friends, my hairstylist was Greg’s cousin, and our photographers were close friends too. The wedding was small enough that late in the evening we all changed into our swimsuits and jumped in the lake!
What were you most nervous or excited about?
We were nervous about the WEATHER! Like everyone getting married in 2020, we struggled to find a venue due to Covid. The people at our ceremony venue were incredible to work with, but unfortunately the indoor area was not available as a backup in case of rain. The forecast went back and forth all week for that Saturday. As we were getting ready to walk down the aisle, dark clouds were headed right for us. We pressed on with the ceremony and they barely missed us! The dark clouds ended up looking amazing in our pictures, and it all worked out. We were most excited for the reception. Knowing that it would just be our families, it was completely stress free and incredibly fun.

Now, the most important part – the Dress!
Tell us about your dress?
Isolde! I knew I wanted lace going into dress shopping, but that was really the only thing I knew I wanted. It. Was. Perfect. The lace detailing was breathtaking. I felt so beautiful the entire day thanks in a big part to my dress. I felt like Isolde was made just for me.
What stockist did you get it from?
Lovely Bridal Chicago!
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
Our first look! After all of the planning (and re-planning due to COVID), anticipation and prep for the day, finally getting to see each other for our first looks cannot be topped. That was the moment it truly hit us that we were about to be able to call each other husband and wife. A close second would be sharing the vows and promises we wrote to each other in the same place where we fell in love.
