Brittney & Brian’s Wedding

Although Brittney and Brian’s wedding didn’t go quite as they had planned, it was more magical than either of them could have possibly imagined.

Brittney was having a hard time finding ‘the one’, until she met Giles. Of her Giles gown, Brittney said: “I swear I tried on every dress in the Sacramento area and was having a really hard time finding the perfect wedding gown…until I found the Giles dress! I loved the Giles dress because it was so timeless and elegant. We added a simple belt made from the inner lining of the dress material and had them add buttons down the back. It was beautiful, comfortable and everything I ever pictured my wedding dress to be.”

Tell Us Your Love Story

How did you meet?

We actually went to high school together but never really talked. We connected when we were both home from college at a local bar through mutual friends!

How did he put a ring on it?

He was traveling to Bergamo, Italy on a work trip and I was able to join him. We were in our hotel getting ready to head out on a ferry for lunch when he suggested we take a few self-timer photos together. So, we went out onto the balcony of our room where the view was simply stunning. We set up the self-timer and took the first photo smiling together, and when it came time for the second photo Brian got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

Where did you draw inspiration from?

We wanted to have a wedding that felt sentimental and unique to us. I love nature and the outdoors, and Brian is a designer so we brought together elements of nature with simplistic design and lighting so that our weddings represented us as a couple. We’re both drawn to more minimalist design and wanted something simple and beautiful.

What made the wedding personal to you?

Three months before our wedding, we were still unsure whether or not it would be able to go ahead due to COVID. Booking a venue was causing us so much stress as restrictions kept changing, but luckily my grandparents have a beautiful yard and said they would be happy to host our wedding there. The only issue was that the garden needed a lot of work! My grandpa was out on his tractor every day in the lead up to the wedding, and my grandma and I spent a lot of time together planning all the finer details.

A few days before the wedding, I remembered that when I was little my grandma used to tell me about her plans to fix up the courtyard. She would tell me about how it was going to be so beautiful, and that when I got older she could picture me getting married there. At the time I was only about seven years old so I laughed at her of course. But I couldn’t believe that she had said that to me all those years ago and 21 years later it was actually happening through this crazy turn of events! It was one of those moments where things come full circle and you just know that everything is falling into place and happening exactly as it was meant to.

What were you most nervous or excited about?

We were both quite nervous for the ceremony in the lead up to the big day. The thing that excited us the most was getting to dance and spend time with our friends and family. We ended up having to shorten our guest list due to COVID but after months of quarantine, there was nothing better than being with our people.

Now, the most important part – the Dress!

Tell us about your dress?

I swear I tried on every dress in the Sacramento area and was having a really hard time finding perfect wedding gown…until I found the Giles dress! I loved the Giles dress because it was so timeless and elegant. We added a simple belt made from the inner lining of the dress material and had them add buttons down the back. It was beautiful, comfortable and everything I ever pictured my wedding dress to be.

What stockist did you get it from?

Grace & White Bridal

What was your most memorable moment from your day?

Walking down the aisle to Brian was a feeling I’ll never forget. I’ve just never been so happy as I was that day, and the time spent together dancing and laughing with our loved ones is time I will cherish forever. It was just all fun and smiles!
