Lidia & Isaac’s Wedding

Lidia and Isaac’s breathtaking wedding in Phillip Island captured a whimsical bohemian beach vibe.

Lidia wore our romantic Assouline gown to capture the bohemian feel of her whimsical wedding. Of her Assouline gown, Lidia said: “Finding my wedding gown was truly a ‘meant to be’ moment. I had about five minutes left of my bridal fitting, and I asked to try on the Assouline dress. When I put it on, it fit perfectly! It was so strange, people say that when you know, you just know – and it was so true! We cancelled all my other fittings and bought the dress there and then.”

Tell Us Your Love Story

How did you meet?

Isaac and I have actually known each other for years. During high school we were in the same friendship group, and Isaac was actually my New Year’s kiss at a music festival on Phillip Island in 2008! At the end of 2014 I had been travelling around Europe, and when I came home, I caught up with Isaac for coffee…that’s when it all started.

How did he put a ring on it?

It was my birthday weekend in 2019, and we were in Phillip Island on our way out for dinner, just the two of us. We stopped at my favorite spot on the beach to watch the sunset, which is something we love to do together. Then out of nowhere, Isaac said “There’s actually another reason why I brought you to this spot”, and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Where did you draw inspiration from?

I have always been wedding obsessed so I had so many years worth of screenshots on my phone for wedding inspiration! We definitely wanted everything to tie in with our beach venue, so our colours and styling all fitted with that beachy boho theme. The floral styling was the best bit for me because it really brought everything together and made the dream wedding real.

What made the wedding personal to you?

I think being at Phillip Island was the best part. Isaac and I are there every spare weekend we get, so to have all of our closest friends and family there with us for the weekend of our wedding was really special. Plus, I had always wanted to get married at Silverwater Resort, so it really was a dream come true. We were able to make the day run exactly how we wanted, which kept it true to us as a couple. We did a first look with our bridal party and families before the ceremony so that we could spend the time between the ceremony and reception mingling with everyone and enjoying the party, which was a really fun way to do it for us.

What were you most nervous or excited about?

We were definitely nervous about whether or not the day would be able to go ahead because of COVID! Overall, we managed to stay positive even though it was all a bit up in the air. We had organised a backup date with the venue and all of our suppliers, and asked our guests to save the backup date when we sent out the invites which took some of the pressure off. There was a scare around New Year that we could have been heading for another lockdown, but luckily we got our perfect day and I still can’t believe it! Isaac and I were also both very nervous about our first dance. We literally made up a few twirls the Thursday before our wedding, but we didn’t fall over so that’s a win!

I was most excited for our first look. When we arrived, I walked up to Isaac and tapped him on the shoulder and his reaction to me in my wedding gown was the best!

Now, the most important part – the Dress!

Tell us about your dress?

I wore the beautiful Assouline gown with the ivory tulle skirt. Finding my wedding gown was truly a ‘meant to be’ moment. I had about five minutes left of my bridal fitting, and I asked to try on the Assouline dress. When I put it on, it fit perfectly! It was so strange, people say that when you know, you just know – and it was so true! We cancelled all my other fittings and bought the dress there and then.

What stockist did you get it from?

Bluebell Bridal

What was your most memorable moment from your day?

At sunset, our photographer and videographer got Isaac, myself, and our bridal party to go out for some photos and to pop some bottles of champagne. It was so sentimental because Isaac and I got a chance to just be together and enjoy a moment away from the craziness of the day. It was perfect.
