Just like their engagement, Megan and Carter’s wedding took place by the water and captured a truly serene elegance.
After the dramatic train on our FREYA gown caught Megan’s eye, she quickly fell in love with the rest of the dress. Of her FREYA gown, Megan said: “I absolutely loved my Tara Lauren gown! I only tried on 4 dresses, but when I tried on FREYA, I knew it was the one. It was the subtle, beautiful, elegant dress I was looking for and the back, the beautiful lace, and train is what really sold it to me. It worked so well with our theme, and I got so many compliments!”

Tell Us Your Love Story
How did you meet?
We met in Columbia, South Carolina, when I was working on my Master’s Degree. Although we both went to USC at the same time, we never met during our undergraduate years. We finally met one night the year after graduation through mutual friends, and we immediately clicked. Ever since the first time we met, we were both immediately smitten and started spending a lot of time together.
How did he put a ring on it?
We were in Sunset Beach, NC and we were “crabbing”, which is trying to catch blue crabs. Carter pretended to pick one up that we had caught and he acted like it pinched him. He was going to show me the mark but then pulled out the ring, got down on one knee, and proposed. I was so shocked and so excited! I was also a little bit nervous he would drop the ring in the water, ha! It was just us two, and so perfect. When we came back from the trip we were able to celebrate with family and friends.
Where did you draw inspiration from?
Our wedding venue was on the marsh, so we wanted more subtle colors and decorations. I have always loved the sage and cream color scheme, so I spent a lot of time looking through photographs that featured my dream colors, and that’s really how we picked the theme. We made oyster name tags for everyone at their place settings, and we used palm leaves along the table which really tied our theme together!
What made the wedding personal to you?
It meant so much to have family and friends surrounding us on such an important day in our lives. Due to COVID and venue restrictions, we had to have some guests attend the wedding virtually. It meant so much to know that people were celebrating us from near and far! Another thing that was really special was Carter and I wrote notes to each other and read them on the morning of our wedding. It was really sweet and a nice thing to read while we were away from each other getting ready for the big ceremony!
What were you most nervous or excited about?
I think we were both so excited that it felt like nerves! The weather was perfect, and we really didn’t have many issues wedding day. I’d just say slight nervousness stemmed from the fact that all eyes were on us! We were so excited though, and it was so nice to finally see each other at the first look.
Now, the most important part – the Dress!
Tell us about your dress?
I absolutely loved my Tara Lauren gown! I only tried on 4 dresses, but when I tried on FREYA, I knew it was the one. What stockist did you get it from?
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
Going out at sunset with Carter and our photographer, Liz, to take photos was definitely the most memorable moment for me. It was such an intimate moment and it was so cool to see everyone celebrating us from the dock! Also, at the reception our wedding planner snuck some of the appetizers into a side room for us, so Carter and I got to eat those and talk in private before the night really started!
