After spending almost all of 2020 in sweat pants, Maya & Rolby invited their guests to dress to the nine’s for their classically styled wedding ceremony.
For Maya, wearing our MAYA gown on her wedding day felt like it was simply meant to be. Of her MAYA gown, Maya said: “As soon as I️ laid eyes on the MAYA gown, I️ knew it was going to be my wedding dress! I had a general idea of what style I️ wanted, and when I saw the MAYA gown ticked all of the boxes AND had my name, it felt like it was destined to be my wedding dress. When I tried the dress on, I honestly teared up and FaceTimed my mom and she agreed that it was perfect, so I ordered it with my stylist that very same night!”

Tell Us Your Love Story
How did you meet?
We met at college in Miami and our relationship began when we started going on chicken tender dates! Rolby only ate chicken tenders when we first met, and he just wanted someone cool to hang out with and get chicken tenders with. I happened to love chicken tenders with honey mustard, and we both found one another interesting and had a really good time talking, so the rest is history!
How did he put a ring on it?
We went back to Miami for our 4 year anniversary and went to Vizcaya with one of my best friends. Vizcaya was a spot we loved and had one of our first dates there at the start of our relationship. One evening, just before sunset, we went to the gazebo on the water and my friend started taking photos of us, so we recreated some photos from our first date, just having fun and joking around. Then, to my surprise, Rolby got down on one knee, pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him!
Where did you draw inspiration from?
I think in general we both have a taste for simplicity and our style is fairly classic. We just wanted our wedding to be beautiful and romantic, yet simple, timeless and elegant without being over the top.
What made the wedding personal to you?
Having our closest friends and family with us to celebrate all together! Especially after a year of a pandemic lockdown and not seeing so many loved ones for a while, it was truly so special to be together and celebrate as one big family.
What were you most nervous or excited about?
We were both most excited to see what people wore! Our dress code was Black Tie and we were so excited to see our loved ones get all dressed up, particularly after a year of wearing nothing but sweats at home. We were also so excited about the food and the photos!
Now, the most important part – the Dress!
Tell us about your dress?
As soon as I️ laid eyes on the MAYA gown, I️ knew it was going to be my wedding dress! I had a general idea of what style I️ wanted, and when I saw the MAYA gown ticked all of the boxes AND had my name, it felt like it was destined to be my wedding dress. When I tried the dress on, I honestly teared up and FaceTimed my mom and she agreed that it was perfect, so I ordered it with my stylist that very same night!
What stockist did you get it from?
Lovely Bride NYC! They are the cutest bridal shop and the entire process was such a pleasure.
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
My first touch and vows, and then seeing my husband for the first time when I was walking down the aisle. I was definitely ugly crying but they were tears of pure joy and excitement!
