Katie & Kyle’s wedding vision truly came to life on their big day—lots of greenery, soft ivory tones, and romantic lighting.
Of her GIULETTA gown, Katie said: “What stood out to me with Tara Lauren was the variety of beautiful styles as well as the obvious quality of the product. The GIULETTA gown was the 5th dress I tried on and immediately my mind was made up! The low cut back, front and sides was exactly what I was looking for, and the lace appliqué details were so stunning.”

Tell Us Your Love Story
How did you meet?
We initially met through friends! Then we re-connected 2 years later at a restaurant I was working for at the time. He plays professional hockey overseas in Europe so we have been doing long distance for most of our relationship.
How did he put a ring on it?
He completely surprised me! We were supposed to be hanging out on the beach in his parents backyard and when I showed up, he had roses and champagne. He also had his dog dressed in a white floral necklace and my brother was hiding in the bushes to film the whole thing!
Where did you draw inspiration from?
Honestly, I got a lot of my wedding look inspiration from Lauren Burnham who was on the Bachelor. The style of dress I went for as well as the hair and accessories were inspired by her wedding look. For the wedding styling, I always wanted something outdoors with lots of greenery, ivory white tones, and romantic lighting.
What made the wedding personal to you?
Our original wedding guest list was supposed to be 150 people. Due to COVID, we had to cut those numbers down to about 60. Although this was not plan A, it really made our wedding more personal and incredibly special. It was a day to celebrate love with just our families and close friends! The COVID restrictions really made us realize what is most important to us, and how lucky we are to have such amazing people in our lives. Each and every person at our wedding made it personal and special to us.
What were you most nervous or excited about?
I honestly wasn’t nervous about any of the actual wedding details because the woman who runs the venue was so supportive and helpful. We had also been planning for about 2 years after postponing due to COVID so everything was very ready! If I was nervous about anything, it was about being the ‘centre of attention’. On the day of I was nervous about the weather because there was a high chance of rain but it never actually did and we had the perfect day!
Now, the most important part – the Dress!
Tell us about your dress?
I wore the Tara Lauren GIULETTA gown with the Leah Veil. I started following Tara Lauren on Instagram once I was engaged and looking for wedding gown inspiration. What stood out to me was the variety of beautiful styles as well as the obvious quality of the product. When I started to plan dress shopping, I wanted to find a boutique that sold Tara Lauren dresses specifically. I live in Montreal but I went to the Sash and Bustle boutique in Toronto so that I could try on Tara Lauren! It was the only store I went to and the GIULETTA gown was the 5th dress I tried on. My mind was made up! I loved the dress, and both my mom and maid of honor had the exact same reaction! The low cut back, front and sides was exactly what I was looking for and the lace appliqué details were so stunning – Something I didn’t even know I wanted until I tried it on! I also loved the subtle lace layer underneath the tulle.
What stockist did you get it from?
Sash + Bustle, ON
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
I have 3! The first is getting ready with my girls and mom. It was such a special time with all the important women in my life. The second was my husbands speech because he absolutely nailed it. It was emotional & funny, and it really came from his heart which I love! The third was taking our wedding portraits together! It was the one time during the day where we got to be alone together and it was a really nice and intimate moment.
