Tell Us Your Love Story
How did you meet?
Pete and I met through mutual friends a few years ago. We went to a Washington Wizards game for our first date, but didn’t really hit it off. It wasn’t until my friend (and Maid of Honor) got married months later that we reconnected at the wedding. After that, we begun hanging out and playing soccer together through a local rec league.
How did he put a ring on it?
Last summer, Pete and I decided to do family photos in the Outer Banks. During the session, Pete got an airplane to fly by with a sign saying “Will you Marry Me- Love Pete” and proposed with my Great Grandmother’s ring. As I was trying to catch my breath, I turned around and some of my friends had made the journey to celebrate with us!
Where did you draw inspiration from?
The venue was very romantic so I used a lot of blush, silver and mauve in the color scheme. We couldn’t have our dog at the wedding so I put him on our wedding stationary and had Boston Terrier number cards made. Since the venue was in the south and had a lot of property, we also had a horse and carriage take us around the property for pictures. Other than that, I like to keep things traditional and sentimental. A lot of items used in the wedding were family heirlooms, items I can pass on to my daughter, or gifts from close family and friends.
What made the wedding personal to you?
My grandmother passed away 4 days after I got engaged. I really wanted her to be at my wedding so I had a bouquet charm made with a picture of her and my grandfather from their wedding. I also included frames of loved ones that are no longer with us.
What were you most nervous or excited about?
I was very nervous I would trip and fall walking down the aisle with my father! I did sink in the grass quite a bit during the ceremony but I was able to hold my husband’s hand to balance myself. Remember your sole mates!
Now, the most important part – the Dress!
Tell us about your dress?
My dress was the FREYA gown. It was one of the first dresses I tried on and I immediately fell in love. The dress fit like a glove and the lace is gorgeous! I received a lot of compliments from friends and family who helped me pick the dress as well as those that attended my wedding. The dress was elegant, well made and the sizing was spot on.
What stockist did you get it from?
Bridal Room, VA
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
My 9 bridesmaids decided to make a rap about me and my husband which was hilarious and incredibly well thought out. They used beats from “Big Poppa” and “Party in the USA” but tweaked the wording. It was great!
