Alexandra & Matthew’s big day was as intimate and meaningful as their first meeting at a quaint coffee shop on King West in Toronto. Although very private people, the two removed themselves from their comfort zones to share details of their love surrounded by treasured friends and family.
Of her LINA gown, Alexandra said: “I purchased my dress from Sash & Bustle in Toronto. I was fortunate enough to try on my dress for the first time in their original store. When I came to pick up my actual dress, they had moved to their larger, freshly designed and renovated store in Corktown.”

Tell Us Your Love Story
How did you meet?
How Did He Put A Ring On It?
Where did you draw inspiration from?
Matt and I were always very clear that neither of us wanted a traditional wedding. So our inspiration came from wanting a comfortable setting with lots of opportunities for lounging and socializing, while elevating the night with amazing food and drinks.
What made the wedding personal to you?
We wanted to ensure that we had the essence of a wedding carefully integrated into our celebration. When we eloped, we chose to only say our legal vows and keep our personal ones for a time when we could be surrounded by all our loved ones. It was really special to share those amongst our closest friends and family and to have them witness.
What were you most nervous or excited about?
We were nervous about the attention, in all honesty. We are fairly private people who like living a low-key day-to-day life. To have everyone’s attention on us, especially when we were sharing our personal vows to one another, certainly took us out of our comfort zone. Once we eased into the day, we were most excited to finally be together with our loved ones – some of whom we hadn’t seen in 4 years!
Now, the most important part – the Dress!
Tell us about your dress?
I feel grateful that I was able to find the perfect dress… The Lina Gown by Tara Lauren!
What stockist did you get it from?
I purchased my dress from Sash & Bustle in Toronto. I was fortunate enough to try on my dress for the first time in their original store. When I came to pick up my actual dress, they had moved to their larger, freshly designed and renovated store in Corktown.
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
My most memorable moment of the day was finally getting to see Matt at the venue. We spend almost all of our free time together, and we’re often in very casual, comfy attire. To see us both at our best, feeling our best really set the tone for the rest of the day. There’s nothing better than seeing your partner’s face light up with so much love and adoration.
