Ellie & Nates Wedding

From a Hinge match to a dreamy Napa proposal, Ellie and Nate tied the knot on July 22, 2023, in Omaha, NE, surrounded by 250 loved ones. Their classic, timeless wedding, inspired by black and white elegance and the iconic Kennedy wedding, took place in a historic church on their street. Ellie stunned in out Corrine gown and Leah veil which perfectly complimented one another. The day was filled with heartfelt moments, including an unforgettable ‘anniversary dance’ where Nate’s grandparents, married 70 years, stole the show.

Of her CORRINE gown and LEAH veil , Ellie said: “I wore the lovely Corrine gown paired with the Leah veil, both from Tara Lauren. When looking for a dress I wanted something that was classy and form fitting. My dress was the definition of a classic gown with a modern twist. I also feel like it gave off some old Hollywood glamour vibes with the square neckline, boning in the corset, super long train, and slight v dip on the back of the dress. The Leah veil perfectly complimented my dress. I am a sucker for long veils, and the veil added the perfect drama to the overall look. I will forever be OBSESSED with my dress!

Tell Us Your Love Story

How did you meet?

We met on Hinge! The app that is meant to be deleted, actually worked for us. It was a cold winter night in February of 2021, and Nate and I met for the first time at the local Mexican food hot spot, Mula. Over margaritas and drinks we talked for 2 hours. Soon then after, we continued seeing each other, and as Nate would say, we accidentally fell in love.

How Did He Put A Ring On It?

We were in California for our good friend’s wedding in Palo Alto, and decided to turn the trip into a northern California vacation. We were on a wine tasting tour in Napa, CA and Nate proposed at Pestoni Family Vineyard in a little secluded spot on their property. It was very special because my best friend and her husband were there to help plan the proposal and help us celebrate afterwards, of course! After the proposal, the next day we traveled to Carmel by the Sea and Nate surprised me with engagement photos by the ocean. It was a dreamy vacation that we will never forget.

Where did you draw inspiration from?

I have always wanted a classic wedding, that is timeless and chic. I love the contrast of black and white. I think black and white look so elegant put together.  I am definitely a “less is more” time of person, and so I wanted a wedding that was minimalistic and classic. I also watched a documentary one time about John F Kenneday Jr. and Carolyn Besstte’s wedding in 1996 and I was obsessed with her sleek back bun and classic, form fitting dress. I definitely drew inspo from that wedding too.

What made the wedding personal to you?

Like I mentioned, I always wanted to get married in an old, pretty church. The church we got married at is actually on the same street we live on. Fun fact, our house we currently live in was built in 1904, and it was the original location of the church we got married in. In the 1930’s the church burnt down, with some of the original foundation still standing. The new church (the one we got married at) was built down the street from the original location. Builders renovated the burnt down church into a home, which we currently live in today. It was very neat to have a personal connection to the church we got married in.

What were you most nervous or excited about?

We were most excited about having all of our favorite people from many different parts of the country all in one room together to celebrate. Nate is from Western North Dakota, so it was very, very special to have all of his friends and family from ND with us to celebrate.

Now, the most important part – the Dress!

Tell us about your dress?

I wore the lovely Corrine gown paired with the Leah veil, both from Tara Lauren.

What stockist did you get it from?

Rhylan Lang Bridal in Omaha, NE. Hannah helped make my dress vision come to life!

What was your most memorable moment from your day?

Too many memorable moments from the day to list! From my dad walking me down the aisle, to the lovely toasts, and dancing the night away with our favorite people, it is so hard to just pick one. One thing I am so glad we did was do an “anniversary dance” at our reception, where whoever is married the longest, wins. Nate’s grandparents are 90 years old and have been married for 70 years. It was so cute to see them “out dance” all of the married couples in attendance.
