Allie & Dilan’s Wedding

Allie Folcik, now Gobeil, and Dilan Gobeil tied the knot on July 22, 2023, at the enchanting Castle Hill Resort and Spa in Proctorsville, VT, surrounded by 120 guests. Their love story began at a John Michael Montgomery show in 2016, leading to a long-distance relationship and a memorable proposal in front of Salto Santa Clara waterfall in Puerto Rico. Inspired by Allie’s love for plants, the wedding featured sage green and vibrant florals, with handmade touches from family and friends. Despite pre-wedding challenges, their day was a testament to enduring love, highlighted by a touching last dance to “I Swear,” a nod to where it all started.

Of her CARMEL gown, Allie said: “My wedding dress was truly meant to be. By chance the boutique I went to was hosting a Tara Lauren trunk show that weekend and my stylist pulled the Carmel dress as a “different” style to try. I felt so silly, but I actually got emotional once I put it on and looked in the mirror. It fit almost perfectly without alterations, was covered in a beautiful floral lace, and just felt like a style that wasn’t my everyday go to – i.e. the perfect wedding dress.”

Tell Us Your Love Story

How did you meet?

Dilan and I first met through friends in 2016 at a John Michael Montgomery show in a tiny bar in Melbourne, FL. We had both moved south to attend Florida Tech for college but soon figured out we came from towns just two hours apart in Vermont and New Hampshire. When we met, Dilan had already graduated and was working as a civil engineer. I was two years younger and in my senior year with sights on graduate school.
Six months into dating I moved to College Station to start my Ph.D. in toxicology at Texas A&M. We did long distance for about a year before Dilan moved out to join me – followed shortly by us adopting our pup, Indy. After 4 years of tacos, country music, many failed lab experiments, and Dilan’s unwavering support through my degree, I finally graduated, and we relocated back closer to home and family in New England.

How Did He Put A Ring On It?

After moving to Massachusetts and weathering our first winter back in New England, Dilan and I took a trip in March of 2021 to Puerto Rico. We both love to be active and explore, so we had planned to hike to see the Salto Santa Clara waterfall in Yauco. To our surprise it was pretty off the beaten path, but it turned out perfectly. Dilan proposed in front of the waterfall with the whole place to ourselves. It was truly magical and a day I’ll never forget.

Where did you draw inspiration from?

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a plant lover, and I knew I wanted to plan our wedding around the outdoors and beautiful florals. When we visited the Castle for the first time it was raining and 50 degrees in June, but even still the venue seemed so romantic and unique and was covered in blooms. Our wedding colors ended up being sage green and a mix of bright summery florals, including light blue delphiniums (my new favorite flower after the wedding!).

What made the wedding personal to you?

So many things came together to make our day so special. A few highlights were that my sister handmade my beautiful cathedral length veil with the most perfect little flowers she created to mimic the ones on my dress. My mom and Dilan’s Nanny added flowers from their own gardens which got incorporated into our bouquets and other arrangements. Dilan’s Papa was our officiant. And my best friend and maid of honor hand embroidered my converse sneakers for me to wear during the reception with little flowers and our wedding date.

What were you most nervous or excited about?

About two weeks before our wedding, Vermont got hit with extreme rains and flooding which ended up devastating the center of the town our venue was in. Thankfully, everyone in town was okay and the venue avoided the majority of the flooding since it was up on a hill. That was a very stressful time leading up to our wedding day…but, it also reminded us that regardless of the actual day, we were just excited to be marrying each other.

Now, the most important part – the Dress!

Tell us about your dress?

My wedding dress was truly meant to be. I went in to my first appointment with a completely different idea of the style I wanted. I thought I would end up in something flowy and A line. By chance the boutique I went to was hosting a Tara Lauren trunk show that weekend and my stylist pulled the Carmel dress as a “different” style to try. I felt so silly, but I actually got emotional once I put it on and looked in the mirror. It fit almost perfectly without alterations, was covered in a beautiful floral lace, and just felt like a style that wasn’t my everyday go to – i.e. the perfect wedding dress.

What stockist did you get it from?

Tulle Bridal in Andover, MA!

What was your most memorable moment from your day?

Of course there are a million, but one of my favorites was Dilan and I having a private last dance when the reception ended. We danced to “I swear” by John Michael Montgomery as a tribute to where we first met.
