Tell Us Your Love Story

How did you meet?

Tyler and I met at Winthrop University in 2014. We shared the same friend group and remained friends after college. We didn’t get close until Labor Day weekend 2020 while hanging out with our friends in Bryson City. We spent the whole weekend laughing, goofing off and dancing with our friends.

As the last night winded down, we had a long chat at this massive wooden dining table where Tyler asked me if I’d like to get dinner the following weekend back home. The week went by and we found ourselves laughing(a common theme for us) over sushi at my favorite sushi spot in Charlotte. We’ve been inseparable ever since!

How Did He Put A Ring On It?

Tyler and I planned a trip to go see my favorite DJ group, Odesza, in Massachusetts over Labor Day weekend 2022. We landed in Boston the first night of the trip and rushed to our waterfront dinner spot where Tyler made a 7 pm reservation.

I was running fashionably late but we finally made it across the harbor by water taxi. As we were walking up to the restaurant, with the Boston skyline in the back and the sun setting, Tyler got down on one knee and popped the question – well, he got down on one knee and stared up at me lovingly with a beautiful ring. Tyler was speechless but I quickly broke the silence and said SHUT UP!

We laughed, he got up, we kissed and hugged. I had to remind him to ask me but of course we both knew the answer. Before I knew it, I heard cheering and as Tyler told me to turn around, our family and friends came around the corner. I held it together up until this point which I then ugly cried. I couldn’t have dreamt of a better day.

Where did you draw inspiration from?

We knew we wanted to get married in the mountains and likely in Asheville. I quickly felt inspired by the blue ridge and the colors of the leaves that would change each fall. I knew I didn’t care for just one color for my bridesmaids so I took to Pinterest. My board filled with fall boho wedding inspo such as fall florals, multi textured and multicolored bridesmaids gowns. Tyler knew he wanted to do a tweed suit with some unique custom touches.

What made the wedding personal to you?

Our wedding felt so special to us for many reasons. We chose to do things a little different like all different bridesmaids dresses, minimal florals on the tables but one hell of a floral meadow that was our backdrop against the blue ridge, and having a huge dance party with our family and friends until 12am thanks to our awesome DJ- 1st Nation Ent.

We also had a great experience with our Photo Booth vendor with classic photo strips for our guests to take home. We got a copy of each strip so we got to see the fun from everyone’s perspective!

What were you most nervous or excited about?

I was most nervous about walking down the aisle and seeing all of our guests for the first time. Despite the nerves, it was a dream come true to see all of the people we loved in one place that came from all over the country to celebrate us and our love.

Now, the most important part – the Dress!

Tell us about your dress?

I had custom sleeves made in Charlotte with my boho dream in mind- aiming to create a small bell sleeve out of the extra train. Seeing it come to life was unbelievable!

What stockist did you get it from?

I got my dress from Lovely Bride – Charleston!

What was your most memorable moment from your day?

The most memorable part of our day- aside from seeing our favorite people in one big room, was being able to dance all night with them. From the start of planning, we knew we wanted a huge emphasis on our reception being a non stop dance party. Not only did we have a blast, but our guests couldn’t stop raving about how much fun they had. Even our photographers commented on how much fun our guests were from the first to last song of the night.
