Tell Us Your Love Story

How did you meet?

We met at a bar when we were both studying in Turin, Italy. I was 17 and he was 19. We hit it off straight away, we were each other’s first loves and fell deep and fast! Shortly after meeting, I moved to the UK for University and he moved back to India. We kept our relationship going for 5-years – long distance – all through University. Eventually, long distance became too difficult and we decided to break things off in 2013.

We both lived separate lives for seven years, and he moved to the UK during that time. Then, in November 2020 I got a message out of the blue from Advait that even though it’s been a long time, he still thinks about me, and would it be too crazy to suggest going for a drink? Because of the pandemic, the earliest we could meet was January 2021. We spent those two months texting each other constantly, like teenagers. When we finally met in person, it was fireworks right away, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.

How Did He Put A Ring On It?

He proposed on a holiday in Bali, in November 2022. He had rose petals laid out on a beautiful terrace right by a waterfall and champagne on ice – it was perfect

Where did you draw inspiration from?

We really wanted to pay homage to both our cultures. Neither of us are religious so we wanted to choose the rituals that had meaning for us both and bring them together in a hybrid ceremony. The photos where I’m wearing the Tara Lauren dress are from our European wedding ceremony; we had an Indian ceremony the following day (that’s why you can see the mehndi (henna) already on my hands).

We wanted the European ceremony to feel very rustic and classy. We opted for a lot of wood, white flowers, and warm lighting. We wanted the whole thing to feel very fun and relaxed– like we were having a dinner on a summer night in Italy with our closest friends and family. The beautiful backdrop of the old Portugese villa and the tropical palm trees were of course, added bonuses!

What made the wedding personal to you?

Advait and I have both had a difficult few years, so we really wanted our wedding to feel intimate and special, and to be a celebration of love and joy. That’s why we decided to do our entrance together, hand-in-hand. We also had my father officiate our vow ceremony (and sing a song on the guitar), and my little nephew was our ring bearer.

We opted not to have a bridal party either, because we just wanted everyone to relax and have a good time. Advait lost his brother a few years ago, so we had photos of him all over the gardens so we could feel his presence too. It was such a special opportunity for all our friends and family from across the globe to come together.

What were you most nervous or excited about?

I was most nervous about everybody getting there. We had over 20 different nationalities in attendance, so people were flying from all over the world, and I was nervous about people’s flights being cancelled or significant delays. Luckily, everybody managed to make it in time and it all went off without a hitch. I was most excited about everyone we love finally being in the same place together and seeing friends from different phases of our life meet each other and hang out.

Now, the most important part – the Dress!

Tell us about your dress?

I knew I wanted a dress with a halter-neck and a low back. I only tried on about 10 different dresses in total and I knew right away when I tried on the Scarlet dress that it was right for me. I really wanted a dress that I would be able to move around in and feel comfortable wearing all night. This was perfect because it looks incredibly classy and beautiful but it’s also comfortable to wear and you can actually eat your wedding food and cake wearing it

What stockist did you get it from?

I got the dress at Heartaflutter bridal in London!

What was your most memorable moment from your day?

Walking down the steps of the villa into our ceremony together was really special. All our guests had such amazing energy and we felt so buoyed up by everyone’s love.
