From a serendipitous summer program to a nature walk surprise: Taylor and Jake’s love story culminates in a picture-perfect Aspen ceremony amongst an intimate gathering of family and close friends.
Of her RYDELLE gown, Taylor said: “I purchased my wedding dress from the Lovely Bride in Chicago. I was in town and strolled past the beautiful store and made an appointment for the following day with my best friend, Alex who had been there from the start of our love story. The day before, I tried on a few dresses with my mom that I felt I was forcing myself to love. My mom told me that I would inevitably put something on and, “you would just know when it’s the right dress,” and I was convinced that wouldn’t happen to me until I tried on the Rydelle dress from Tara Lauren. I instantly knew this was my dress. The dress I had envisioned in my brain for years and years, but couldn’t quite pinpoint all the details until I saw it on my body and my reflection of the mirror.”

Tell Us Your Love Story
How did you meet?
How Did He Put A Ring On It?
We were in Aspen working from “home” since everything was remote in 2020, and on our last day there we decided to take a walk through a beautiful park before heading off to one of our favorite sushi spots in town. I had a bit of an inkling that it was about to happen, since I had helped design the one of a kind Toi Et Moi ring from Ylang 23. There was not a bone in Jake’s body that was nervous. The biggest giveaway to me was that he offered to take a solo picture of me with the mountain behind me. For anyone with an Instagram boyfriend of some type, this is usually an ask and not something that we automatically receive, which made me question what was about to happen. Once I turned around, I saw him on one knee and a photographer pop out of the bushes to snap some photos of us. It was exactly what I wanted. A night just us two, in our favorite place, with our pup Stella, eating sushi. We got to relish in the moment and once we returned to Dallas both of our families surprised us with an incredible engagement party.
Where did you draw inspiration from?
The wedding was a brain child of my mother and I’s ideas put together. We are both very visual and creative people and crave color. I knew I was never going to be a white flower, white wedding type of girl. I wanted to do something different than all the weddings I’ve seen over and over again. I drew inspiration from the surroundings of Aspen in the Fall time with personal touches throughout the entire night.
What made the wedding personal to you?
The size was the most personal. We had our closest family and friends in attendance. Not anyone we would have had to say, “What have you been up to?” because we were so close to everyone that made it out there. We got to dance, eat, and drink with all of our favorite people and we wouldn’t have changed it for the world.
What were you most nervous or excited about?
I feel like not many talk about the immense pressure that goes into wedding planning for over a year and a half. It can easily take a toll on your mental health. My anxiety had consumed me up until about the week before, but once I got my nerves out, I was beyond excited to celebrate our love story with the best people in our lives. I was most excited to see everything come to life beyond how I had envisioned it through mood boards and pictures. I was absolutely floored at how perfectly executed each aspect felt. All the vendors did an incredible job!
Now, the most important part – the Dress!
Tell us about your dress?
There’s something about a wedding dress that you picture in your head from the first moment as a little girl that you dream of your wedding day, up to the day you find your dress. For me, finding a dress that was timeless yet fit my personality was high on my list. I knew I wanted to feel like a princess on my wedding day, but with a flair of trend and timelessness. That meant layers and applique. I remember feeling the same feeling I felt when trying on my dress for the first time that I did at each fitting and finally on the wedding day. Sometimes, I go in my closet and still check up on it. I hope one day that my future daughter will want to wear it to a wedding event of hers.
What stockist did you get it from?
I purchased my wedding dress from the Lovely Bride in Chicago. I was in town and strolled past the beautiful store and made an appointment for the following day with my best friend, Alex who had been there from the start of our love story. The day before, I tried on a few dresses with my mom that I felt I was forcing myself to love. I instantly knew this was my dress. The dress I had envisioned in my brain for years and years, but couldn’t quite pinpoint all the details until I saw it on my body and my reflection of the mirror.
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
Getting to marry the love of my life with the mountains as the backdrop on a sunny day in Aspen, and have everyone there to witness.
